Alchemie Mechanisms Homework

There will be 12 graded Alchemie Mechanisms homework assignments this semester.

The Alchemie Mechanisms app costs $9.99 for full access. If you used this app in Chem 12A, don’t pay for it again.

After you download the app (iTunes or Google Play) onto your tablet or phone, click on “sign in” (upper right corner) to create an account. After you verify your e-mail, click on the gear icon (upper left corner) and enter course code: 4mstks

See the Student registration video for help.

NOTES: 1. You have to register to earn credit for doing each Mechanisms homework assignment.

  1. See the Menu (upper left corner) for the Task and Goal for each exercise.
  2. If you try the same thing two or three times and it does not work, this means you are doing something wrong. Try something else.
  3. Three (3) Stars is full credit for each exercise.
  4. You will earn a homework grade for the Mechanisms exercises you do this semester: 12 Homework assignments, 62 puzzles total. If you earn Three (3) Stars full credit for all 62 puzzles, you earn full credit for your Homework grade.
  5. SUGGESTION: Draw the reaction on paper first and try using curved arrows to show how bonds break and form going from reactants to products.
  6. IMPORTANT! Make sure you are able to draw the mechanism on paper for each reaction/puzzle using curved arrows (show bonds breaking and forming) and using a known bond making/breaking process.

Make sure you understand each mechanism for the same reaction type using different reactants. Example: elimination reaction using different reactant and different leaving group to make an alkene.
